This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the mobile/tablet app "Learn Hiragana" (the "App").

Our approach

The App is designed to be safe for everyone, including young children: it does not collect personal information. No account is required, and we never ask for your name, email address, location, or any other personal data.

Information stored on your device

The following information is stored only on your device to provide the App's features. It is never transmitted to the developer or any other external party, and the developer cannot access it.

Practice records (practice counts, results, and handwriting traces)
App settings (stroke-order guide, sound effects, difficulty, etc.)
Pass (in-app purchase) validity period
Your answer on the age screen (used to control ad display, see below)
Temporary unlock status earned by watching ads

All of this information is deleted when you uninstall the App.

In-app purchases

Purchases of passes (1-Month Pass / 1-Year Pass) are processed by the store's payment system (Apple App Store / Google Play / Microsoft Store). The developer never has access to your payment details such as credit card numbers. The App only checks purchase status via the store's purchase history.

Advertising

When the App is used in Japanese, no ads are shown at all.
In other languages, rewarded video ads are shown only to users who state on a neutral age screen that they are adults, and only when the user explicitly chooses to watch one. Children are never shown ads, and the advertising SDK is not even initialized until an adult declaration has been made.
Ads are served by Google AdMob. Only non-personalized ads are shown; we do not use interest-based advertising or behavioral targeting. To serve ads, general device information such as your IP address may be sent to Google. For details on how Google handles this information, please see Google's Privacy Policy.

Children's privacy

In line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and other applicable laws, the App does not collect personal information from children under 13. Ads are never shown to children, and personalized advertising is not used for any user. In-app purchases are protected by a parental gate.

Sharing with third parties

The developer does not sell or share user information with third parties. The only external communication from the App is the ad-serving communication with Google AdMob described above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be published on this page. Significant changes will be announced in the App or in the store release notes.
